Internship

Living simply in community

As a *cino intern, you will live with two to six other interns in a simply furnished house. Everyone is responsible for cooking and cleaning duties. The community meets regularly to make shared financial decisions, resolve conflict and divide household chores.

*cino encourages interns to experience simple and sustainable living in the small, rural town of Three Rivers. As an example, many of the interns choose to spend more time in conversation, sharing meals with friends and guests from the area, creating art and music, taking on projects of creative interest and exploring the region rather than individual activities out of the area. Interns may also choose to bring musical instruments, bikes and other personal items, but are asked to limit the number of possessions they bring to allow for a new outlook on the community and world around them. Each group of people living in the intern house collaborates and creates a "Rule of Life" to guide life together throughout their internship. This may include a conscious desire to make ecologically sustainable and socially just decisions in their daily living and buying practices and to try to observe mindfulness and inclusiveness with neighbors and community members. For some, these are new concepts that can be challenging and rewarding.
